A selection of the many books written about Edith Cavell. The first, ‘The Martyrdom of Nurse Cavell’ was published the same year she was shot. The language is very emotive and there are no details of the activities that Edith was certainly involved in. Later books are more objective, but the image of Edith as a saintly martyr continues today.
