The Western Front

Men of the Norfolk Regiment fought in all the main theatres of the First World War. The 1st Battalion was part of the British Expeditionary Force, which was the first to be sent to France and Belgium in August 1914.

The Regiment grew and three 'service', or Kitchener, battalions, the 7th , 8th and 9th Battalions, were created and joined the 1st Battalion on the Western Front.
